Kunes Car Convos: Cruising with Andre Jackson Jr. of the Milwaukee Bucks

Published on May 2, 2025 by Matthew Kroll

At Kunes Auto Group, we love to connect with our community—and that includes giving fans an inside look into the lives of inspiring athletes. In this latest episode of Kunes Car Convos, Evan Ferguson hits the road with Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard Andre Jackson Jr. following a signing event at the Geneva Lakes Car Show. From his NBA routine to childhood dreams, Andre opens up about the grind, the glory, and life in the Cream City.

From Kids’ Autographs to Role Model Moments

There’s something special about seeing young fans light up when they meet their heroes. For Andre Jackson Jr., it’s more than just signing memorabilia—it’s about remembering his roots.
“It means the world to me… Growing up, I was in their shoes at one point,” Jackson shares, recalling the admiration he had for NBA players as a kid. Now, as a pro, he embraces the opportunity to give back inspiration and joy.

Childhood Heroes and Hoop Dreams

Growing up, Andre idolized a wide range of basketball talent. From LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo to throwback icons like Josh Smith and Rajon Rondo, Andre wasn’t just watching for entertainment—he was studying.
“I used to just try to watch the things they do and then go out on my court and practice them,” he says, describing the building blocks of his development.

Behind the Scenes: Game Day in the NBA

Contrary to the myth that pro athletes simply show up and play, Andre pulls back the curtain on his grueling game-day routine. The day begins with a shootaround and recovery in the hot or cold tub, followed by film study, a nap, and a structured prep routine leading up to tip-off.
“By the time I get to the arena, my body is on autopilot,” Andre explains. “From eating, stretching, band work, and pregame shooting, it’s a full-day commitment.”
And after the game? More recovery work.
“It definitely is something that occupies a lot of your time.”

Mentorship, Growth, and All-Star Energy

As a young player on a team filled with elite talent—including Giannis, Damian Lillard, and Brook Lopez—Andre finds mentorship everywhere he turns.
“Giannis… in my opinion, is the best player in the league,” he says. “Just watching him and the way he carries himself daily—I learn through osmosis.”
Even participating in the NBA Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend was an eye-opener.
“Just being around the best players, the best dunkers, the best shooters—it empowered me to want to get better,” he says.

UConn Legacy and Championship Mentality

Before his NBA debut, Andre helped bring glory back to UConn. Winning a national title alongside Coach Dan Hurley and standout teammates was a defining moment.
“Yukon is all about championships,” he says. “To be able to bring it back—man, it meant the world.”
Even with this legacy, Andre is confident UConn will bounce back from any setback, pointing to the resilience and leadership instilled by the coaching staff.

Milwaukee Love: Embracing the City

From New York to Connecticut to Wisconsin, Andre has seen a few corners of the country—but Milwaukee holds a special place.
“I love the culture, the support, the food… I’m always finding something new to do,” he says. Whether it’s grabbing dinner at El Seravo, enjoying Summerfest, or admiring Lake Michigan, he’s embraced his new home with open arms.

Rapid Fire with Andre

To wrap up the drive, Evan hits Andre with a few quick questions:

Favorite shoes now? “Dames. They’re dope.”

Back in middle school? “Didn’t matter—just wanted something to hoop in.”

Best basketball movie? He Got Game, starring fellow UConn alum and former Buck Ray Allen.

Stranded on a desert island with one 2K game? “This one. I’m in it!”

Wrapping Up the Ride

As the ride concludes back at Lake Lawn Resort, it’s clear that Andre Jackson Jr. is more than just a rising NBA star. He’s thoughtful, humble, hungry to learn, and passionate about giving back to the next generation. Whether he’s on the hardwood or hanging out at a local car show, he brings energy, gratitude, and heart.
