Ford is always working to keep their vehicles safe from theft. They have many different types of security features to help protect their vehicles.

The most prominent one is the key mating system, also known as the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS). This system makes it difficult for someone to start the engine without the correct key. When the correct key is used, it sends a signal to the engine control module and the engine starts. If the wrong key is used, the engine won’t start and the anti-theft system will activate.

Ford also has a few other security features that help protect their vehicles, like the engine immobilizer, which disables the engine from starting unless the correct key is used. Another feature is the Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start, which allows you to unlock, start, and drive the vehicle without having to take the key out of your pocket or purse.

There’s also the Remote Keyless Entry, which allows you to unlock the doors and trunk without physically using a key. Lastly, there’s the Perimeter Alarm, which alerts the driver and others with a loud horn if someone tries to break into the vehicle, and the Security Alarm, which triggers if someone attempts to break into the vehicle or tamper with it.

  • NEW Canopy Security System (sold separately)

Last year, Ford partnered with ADT to develop the Canopy security system. Starting this year, Canopy will be offered as an after-market product for customers who want it installed. This system uses the latest sensors and AI technology to prevent items from being stolen out of truck beds. Canopy uses cameras, radar, LTE, GPS and more to identify and report credible threats. Plus, it triggers an alarm when there are signs of breaking glass, metal cutting, or if there are suspicious sounds/motion near the vehicle.

Ford continues to prioritize the safety of their vehicles from theft by installing multiple security components. Even more so now that they’ve partnered with ADT to develop the Canopy security system! These features, along with the new Canopy security system, demonstrate Ford’s commitment to vehicle protection so that their customers feel safe.
